HISTORY OF NEZABAZI

Nezabazi, also known as tent pegging, is a traditional equestrian sport with deep historical roots, particularly in Punjab. Its origins date back to ancient cavalry training exercises, where horse-mounted warriors practiced precision strikes to unseat enemies or dismantle encampments by targeting tent pegs, hence the name "tent pegging."

In Punjab, Nezabazi evolved into a vibrant sport, symbolizing martial prowess and cultural pride. It became an integral part of festivals and gatherings, showcasing the skill of riders and the beauty of decorated horses. The sport involves riders on horseback galloping at full speed, aiming to pierce and pick up small ground targets, typically wooden pegs, using a lance or sword. This requires exceptional horsemanship, precision, and coordination between rider and horse.
